Gondwana is Featured in The Boston Globe!
Gondwana’s Rwanda Ecotour has been featured in The Boston Globe’s travel recommendations. The column Here, There, Everywhere features local trips in Boston, destinations in distant countries and travel accessories that can be used by anyone. Kari Bodnarchuk’s title, “See Rwanda’s Landscape, Gorillas and Capital” encompasses the highlights of this ecotour.
Rwanda’s Landscape
Each excursion on the Rwanda trip focuses on the country’s natural background. The Boston Globe writes, “…a boat ride on Lake Kivu (one of the African Great Lakes)” is a signature part of this trip. Additionally, guests will enjoy a guided tour of a coffee farm and roastery. The coffee industry is one of the ways that the Rwandan community recovered after the political turmoil of the early 1990s. Exploring the hills of the coffee farm, Lake Kivu and it’s hot springs give travellers a glimpse of Rwanda’s landscape.

Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda is the defining excursion on this ecotour. “Hike into the Virunga Mountains to see some of the last remaining mountain gorillas in the world,” while encountering a vast expanse of lush greenery and exotic animals. Rwanda’s Capital, Kigali
It’s been about 20 years since the Rwandan Civil War and Genocide. Since then, Kigali has experienced a revival. The city’s art and culture movement is growing, and Kigali is known as one of the safest African travel destinations. Guests will take a cooking class with the students of ASPIRE Rwanda, giving travellers an opportunity to spend time with locals. Gondwana will donate some of the trip’s proceeds “…to ASPIRE Rwanda, a nonprofit that teaches urban women the skills they need to earn a living.”
